Grouse Hunting the North Shore

fter a couple months of hitting the streams now and then, and fishing smallies, we took the weekend off to do some grouse hunting in the north woods. It was a little strange trading in the fly rod for the shotgun, but I quickly became acclimated. I almost forgot how peaceful and beautiful the woods are this time of year. Most of the mosquitos are gone, not too many ticks to worry about, the trees are starting to turn, and you don’t sweat your ass off.


We went to Florida in the Summer and it was hot and the fishing was good


Captain – “Hello folks, our scheduled take-off time is 9am, unfortunately we have a mechanical problem that we haven’t been able to diagnose. We should be able to tell you what the problem is within a half hour” My internal dialogue, “O.k. this sucks but its only 9am, even if we are delayed 2 hours, we can still land in Fort Myers with enough time to get our supplies for the week, and be fishing by evening.” “wait, you’re going to let us know what the problem IS in half an hour?!” Captain, half hour later – “Well, he found out it’s a relay on the backup power generator blah blah blah blah…it will be at least another half hour…
